The term "unlimited" web hosting has become fairly common among those who are looking for web hosting and for those whom are within the web hosting industry.
Hosting providers use the term "unlimited" extremely loosely; in order to gain more clients.
"Unlimited" plans are nothing more than a "cheap" marketing technique that many providers use.
The providers use this technique because it makes them look like "they can provide" more than others; whilst in fact, the stable & reliable hosts do not use this technique; so they do not have to honour a "unlimited" plan.
Why are "unlimited" hosting plans not really "unlimited"?
"unlimited" hosting plans are not actually "unlimited" because "someone" will have to pay for all the data/space, etc that is being used within the hosting plan. So by a web host offering unlimited hosting plans; they make themselves very unstable.
My host offers "unlimited" hosting plans and is still stable?
That is because the "said" web host has not had their "unlimited" hosting plans put to the test by someone who will use more server resources than a standard client/company; so they remain stable for a little while longer.
Should, someone decide to take advantage of their "unlimited" website hosting plan; then the web host would either suspend the clients account for using "too much" (against their Fair usage" policy or the web host would become highly unstable and possibly collapse.
Shared Web Hosting is very useful for new websites and those whom will abide by the web hosting company terms and conditions.
